Faculty Member, School of Law
Lecturer & Deputy Director of Doctoral Studies
College of Business & Law
About
I have been a faculty member in UCD School of Law since August 2008. In UCD I teach property law and the law relating to terrorism and counter-terrorism and supervise doctoral students whose focus is primarily on security and rights, especially (although not exclusively) in the context of counter-terrorism. My research primarily focuses on questions related to effective rights protection with a particular focus on times of strain and crisis.
I am co-editor of the Irish Yearbook of International Law--an internationally peer reviewed periodical--and prospective authors are most welcome to make informal contact with me relating to possible submissions (fiona.delondras@ucd.ie). I am also one of the editors of Legal Studies, the journal of the Society of Legal Scholars of the UK and Ireland. This peer-reviewed journal carries an A* ranking. Submission details are available here: http://www.wiley.com/bw/journal.asp?ref=0261-3875
In addition, I am the Assistant Director of Doctoral Studies for the UCD School of Law and am interested in hearing from prospective PhD students in the areas of human rights, counter-terrorism, and securitisation generally.
My latest book, "Detention in the War on Terror: Can Human Rights Fight Back?" is now published by Cambridge University Press (http://tinyurl.com/3vw5bkv)
From 1 September 2012 I will be Professor of Law, Durham Law School www.dur.ac.uk/law
