Currently in the midst of writing a PhD thesis on Sensation fiction (particularly of the 1870s and 1880s) and Victorian visual culture. Concentrating at the moment on clothing and cross dressing in Florence Marryat's 'Her Father's Name' and Mary Braddon's 'Wyllard's Weird'.
