IRCHSS CARA Co-Fund Postdoctoral Research Fellow

About

Patrick Walsh is an IRCHSS CARA co-fund post-doctoral research fellow. He is based in the Dept. of History at University College London (U.C.L.), for the academic years 2011-12 and 2012-13 but will return to the School of History and Archives and U.C.D. in October 2013.

His current research project is entitled 'A Sinew of Power? State and Society in Ireland c. 1680-c. 1780. 

He has previously worked on the U.C.D.-T.C.D co-sponsored IRCHSS Insular Christianity Project, as well as holding a two year IRCHSS postdoctoral fellowship at U.C.D. from 2008-10. 

His publications include The Making of the Ascendancy: William Conolly, 1689-1729 (Woodbridge,2010), The Conolly archive (Dublin, 2010) as well as several articles and book chapters on various aspects of eighteenth century Ireland.

He is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin receiving his BA (Hons) in 2003 and his PhD in 2008.
